Description

A hearty and comforting breakfast casserole made with flaky croissants, savory eggs, and flavorful sausage or ham, perfect for leisurely mornings.


Ingredients

  • 4 large croissants, cut into pieces
  • 6 large eggs
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or your choice)
  • 1 cup cooked sausage or ham, diced
  • 1/2 cup onion, chopped
  • 1/2 cup bell pepper, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon paprika
  • Gravy for serving (optional)

Instructions

  1. Whisk together the eggs, milk, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and paprika in a large mixing bowl until frothy.
  2. Grease your baking dish generously.
  3. Spread croissant pieces evenly across the bottom of the greased baking dish.
  4. Layer the diced sausage or ham, followed by the chopped onions and bell peppers, evenly over the croissants.
  5. Pour the egg mixture over the layers, allowing it to soak the croissant pieces thoroughly.
  6. Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight.
  7. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) the following morning.
  8. Remove the plastic wrap and sprinkle shredded cheese generously on top before baking.
  9. Bake for 35-40 minutes until set and golden brown on top.
  10. Serve warm, drizzled with gravy if desired.

Notes

For maximum flavor, prepare the casserole the night before. You can also substitute proteins and experiment with different cheese varieties.
